Dare's Doodles - Updated Friday, February 22, 2008!
The 2008 Wyndham Championship is off and running with the announcement of the move to Sedgefield County Club. We are very excited about the new location for this year’s event. Anytime a person makes a change, there are some good pieces and there are some difficult pieces. Leaving the Forest Oaks course is one of the difficult pieces due to all the wonderful times and the awesome people. The years at Forest Oaks have been great. I have had the pleasure of working with many wonderful people from the Forest Oaks Community and I appreciate all their efforts for the Tournament. I hope these Volunteers will continue to work with the Tournament to help make it a success. The good piece is that I will get to meet many new and wonderful people at Sedgefield. I am looking forward to them joining our Wyndham Championship Volunteer Family.
Interested in a great opportunity to get a front row seat to a first
class event? The Wyndham Championship's rich tradition is due in large
part to the hard working, highly skilled volunteers it has attracted
over the years.
All volunteers receive the following ($300+ Value):
One Volunteer badge (good for admission all week)
One complimentary Ticket book (one ticket for each day of the week)
Free Volunteer Parking
Meal voucher provided for each shift Invitation to the Volunteer Party

Gallery Marshall
Marshals are stationed throughout the course to enforce crowd control
and proper golf etiquette among spectators. Marshals allow for safe
and easy access from hole to hole, and signal the gallery for quiet
as players address their ball. Golf knowledge and etiquette is mandatory.
Standard bearers walk the entire 18 holes with a walking scorer carrying
a 5 lb. standard sign with player group. Responsible for posting each
player’s score in relation to par as a way to keep the gallery
informed. Volunteers must be capable of walking 18 holes with the standard
sign. Knowledge of golf, scoring and etiquette is mandatory.
Walking Scorer
Scorers walk with a player group through 18 holes recording scores
and statistics for each player on a PGA TOUR-supplied Palm Pilot. Volunteers
must be able to walk entire 18 holes with player group. Knowledge of
golf and familiarity with scoring is necessary. First-time walking scorers are required to work the Wednesday Pro-Am.

Laser Operators are stationed along the fairway or on raised platforms
near the green with a trigger-controlled laser to measure the distance
of each shot or putt. Responsible for relaying hole information to
the ShotLink scoring trailer. Training is required, and is provided
by PGA TOUR staff. Volunteer must have general knowledge of golf.
Pro-Am Caddie
These caddies walk 18 holes carrying the bag for an amateur participant
(not to be confused with caddying for a professional golfer during
Pro-Am) in one of the Pro-Ams. Must be able to help spot balls and
assist amateur participant throughout Pro-Am. Golf knowledge and etiquette
is required.
