FIVE PAST CHAMPIONS JOIN WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five past champions, Si Woo Kim and J.T. Poston, along with Camilo Villegas, Ryan Moore and Jim Herman, will return to Sedgefield in two weeks, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship will take place Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

These players join FedExCup No. 9 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 12 Ben An, FedExCup No.13 Russell Henley, FedEx Cup No. 14 Akshay Bhatia, defending champion Lucas Glover along with past champions Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker.

Kim is 36th in the current FedExCup standings and 50th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He will make his seventh-consecutive Wyndham Championship start and his ninth overall. In addition to his first PGA TOUR win at Sedgefield in 2016, Kim has three additional top-five finishes here including finishing tied for second after the six-man playoff in 2021. A native of South Korea, the four-time PGA TOUR winner won the PLAYERS Championship in 2017 and finished tied for sixth at the prestigious event this year. Kim teamed with 2022 champion Tom Kim at the 2022 Presidents Cup matches in his second appearance in that event. He represented South Korea in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Poston, currently 34th in FedExCup points and 55th in the world, will make his eighth Wyndham Championship start this year. He won the 2019 tournament on the strength of a final round 62 erasing a three-stroke deficit and vaulting to his first TOUR victory. Poston became the first player since 1974 to win a PGA TOUR stroke-play event without making a bogey. The Western Carolina University alumnus has four top-10 finishes this season, including tied for fifth at the Sentry, fifth at the Sony Open in Hawaii, tied for 10th at the Genesis Invitational and fifth at the RBC Heritage in April.

It was 10 years ago this year that Villegas captured his Sam Snead Cup, and he returns this year for his 11th Wyndham Championship start. The 2014 Wyndham champion has five career wins on the PGA TOUR with his most recent coming at the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. He represented Colombia in the 2006 and ‘11 World Cup and was a member of the international team at the 2009 Presidents Cup.

Moore makes his 16th Wyndham Championship start this year. He won the 2009 Wyndham Championship by surviving a three-hole playoff and finished tied for sixth in 2018. The five-time PGA TOUR winner finished tied for fifth at the Valspar Championship in March for his best 2024 showing. Prior to joining the PGA TOUR, Moore enjoyed a stellar amateur career. He represented the United States in the 2016 Ryder Cup.

Herman is playing the Wyndham Championship for the ninth time. The three-time PGA TOUR winner earned his 2020 Wyndham Championship victory with a historic 61-63, 15-under par weekend performance and defeated Billy Horschel by a stroke. Herman’s weekend total of 124 matched the lowest final 36-hole score by a winner in PGA TOUR history (Stuart Appleby – 2010 A Military Tribute at the Greenbriar).
