GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three-time Major winner, 2015 FedExCup champion and fan favorite Jordan Spieth will return to Sedgefield next week for the Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Spieth joins FedExCup No. 9 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 10 Shane Lowry, FedEx Cup No. 15 Akshay Bhatia, FedExCup No. 17 Robert MacIntyre, FedExCup No. 21/world No. 15 Brian Harman, 2018 FedExCup champion Justin Rose, FedExCup No. 22 Christian Bezuidenhout, FedExCup No. 24 Davis Thompson, FedExCup No. 27 Billy Horschel, No. 31 Stephan Jeager, FedExCup No. 32 Thomas Detry, defending champion Lucas Glover along with past champions FedExCup No. 34 J.T. Poston, FedExCup No. 36 Si Woo Kim, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and 2012 FedExCup Champion Brandt Snedeker as well as Wake Forest University alumni FedExCup No. 35 Cameron Young and FedExCup No. 45 Will Zalatoris, Min Woo Lee and Nicolai Hojgaard.
Spieth won the Masters, the U.S. Open and the FedExCup championship in 2015 followed by the Open Championship in 2017. The 13-time PGA TOUR winner is 63rd in the FedExCup point standings and 37th in the Official World Golf Rankings. His best finishes this season are third at The Sentry, tied for sixth at the WM Phoenix Open and tied for 10th at the Valero Texas Open.
A native of Dallas, he will make his fourth Wyndham Championship appearance and his first since 2020. During his 2013 rookie season, he lost a two-hole playoff to Patrick Reed and finished second – still his best Wyndham Championship finish. He played in the Ryder Cup in 2014, ’16, ’18, ’21 and ‘23 and the Presidents Cup in 2013, ’15, ’17 and ‘22.
“We are definitely looking forward to having Jordan with us again this year,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “He’s one of the top-five guys every tournament director wants in their field. He’s had success at Sedgefield before, and it would not surprise me if he has success next week, too.”
During his junior golf career, Spieth played the AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey at Sedgefield in 2008 and ’09 finishing tied for sixth and fourth, respectively. He started the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation in 2014 as a platform to lend time, awareness and financial assistance to Individuals with Special Needs, Junior Golf, Military Families and Veterans, and Pediatric Cancer.
