GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three international golfers playing in this week’s Summer Olympic Games in Paris, FedExCup No. 22 Christian Bezuidenhout, No. 31 Stephan Jeager and No. 32 Thomas Detry, will play next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
These players join FedExCup No. 9 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 10 Shane Lowry, FedEx Cup No. 15 Akshay Bhatia, FedExCup No. 17 Robert MacIntyre, FedExCup No. 21/world No. 15 Brian Harman, 2018 FedExCup champion Justin Rose, FedExCup No. 24 Davis Thompson, FedExCup No. 27 Billy Horschel, defending champion Lucas Glover along with past champions FedExCup No. 34 J.T. Poston, FedExCup No. 36 Si Woo Kim, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and 2012 FedExCup Champion Brandt Snedeker as well as Wake Forest University alumni FedExCup No. 35 Cameron Young and FedExCup No. 45 Will Zalatoris, Min Woo Lee and Nicolai Hojgaard.
Bezuidenhout is 22nd in FedExCup points and 46th in the Official World Golf Rankings. A native and resident of South Africa, Bezuidenhout is a five-time international winner but is still in search of his first PGA TOUR win. His best finishes this year are second at The American Express, fourth at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and tied for ninth at the Valspar Championship. He is making his second Olympic appearance this week in Paris and played on the International Team in the 2022 Presidents Cup matches in Charlotte. He will make his fourth Wyndham Championship appearance next week; he finished tied for 37th in 2020 for his best Sedgefield showing.
Jaeger is 31st in FedExCup points and 54th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He won the Texas Children’s Hospital Houston Open and finished tied for third at both the Farmers Insurance Open and the Mexico Open at Vidante earlier this season. A native of Munich, German, Jaeger moved to America in 2006 at the age of 17 as an exchange student at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., where his high school teammates were current PGA TOUR members Harris English and Keith Mitchell, both of whom are in the Wyndham Championship field next week. An alumnus of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Jaeger will make fifth Wyndham Championship star after returning from the Summer Olympics; he finished tied for tied for 13th in 2022 and tied for 14th last year.
A native of Brussels, Belgium now living in Dubai, Detry is 32nd in the current FedExCup standings, 43rd in the DP World Tour standings and 57th in the Official World Golf Rankings. Detry will make his first Wyndham Championship start after returning from the Summer Olympics where he is representing Belgium as he did in 2020. The University of Illinois alumnus is still looking for his first PGA TOUR win, but earlier this season, he finished tied for second at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, tied for fourth at both the PGA Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and tied for eighth at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
