FEDEXCUP NO. 21 BRIAN HARMAN, NO. 24 DAVIS THOMPSON JOIN FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Brian Harman and Davis Thompson, both highly ranked in the FedExCup standings and the Official World Golf Rankings, will play next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

These players join FedExCup No. 9 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 10 Shane Lowry, FedEx Cup No. 15 Akshay Bhatia, FedExCup No. 17 Robert MacIntyre, defending champion Lucas Glover along with past champions FedExCup No. 34 J.T. Poston, FedExCup No. 36 Si Woo Kim, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker as well as Wake Forest University alumni FedExCup No. 35 Cameron Young and FedExCup No. 45 Will Zalatoris.

Harman became the 2023 Champion Golfer of the Year when he won last year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England. The University of Georgia alumnus is currently 15th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 21st in FedExCup points. A three-time PGA TOUR winner, Harman’s best finishes this season are tied for second at the PLAYERS Championship, tied for fifth at The Sentry and tied for ninth at the Travelers Championship.

The Savannah, Ga., native will make his 11th Wyndham Championship start next week; his best result at Sedgefield was a third-place finish in 2013, but he also finished tied for sixth in 2019. Harman had a decorated amateur career winning the AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey in 2003 and ’04, winning the 2003 U.S. Junior Championship and representing in the Walker Cup in 2005 and ’09. He made his Ryder Cup debut in 2023.

Thompson is 24th in the current FedExCup standings and 43rd in the Official World Golf Rankings. He won the John Deere Classic earlier this season and finished tied for second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Myrtle Beach Classic and tied for ninth at the U.S. Open in just his second PGA TOUR season. The University of Georgia alumnus made his Wyndham Championship debut on a sponsor’s exemption in 2021 and will make his third Wyndham Championship start next week; he finished tied for 22nd last year.
