GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two highly ranked international stars, FedExCup No. 10 Shane Lowry and FedExCup No. 17 Robert MacIntyre will play next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

These players join FedExCup No. 9 Sungjae Im, FedEx Cup No. 15 Akshay Bhatia, defending champion Lucas Glover along with past champions FedExCup No. 34 J.T. Poston, FedExCup No. 36 Si Woo Kim, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker and Wake Forest University alumni FedExCup No. 35 Cameron Young and FedExCup No. 45 Will Zalatoris. Ben An and Russell Henley withdrew from the field.

A native and resident of Ireland, Lowry is 10th in the FedExCup point standings, 28th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 20th in the DP World Tour rankings. He won the 2019 Open Championship in Northern Ireland– it was the first Open Championship played outside England and Scotland since 1951. Earlier this year, Lowry teamed with fellow Irishman Rory McIlroy to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans to claim his third PGA TOUR victory.

In addition to his 2024 win, Lowry finished third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, tied for fourth at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, tied for sixth at the PGA Championship and sixth at the Open Championship. He finished tied for seventh in the 2017 Wyndham Championship for his best finish in six previous appearances at Sedgefield. He played on the European Team in the 2020 and ’23 Ryder Cup and represented Ireland in the 2020 and ‘24 Summer Olympic Games.

A native and resident of Scotland, MacIntyre is a two-time PGA TOUR winner this year; he is 17th in the current FedExCup point standings, 16th in the Official World Golf Rankings and sixth in the DP World Tour rankings. MacIntyre won the RBC Canadian Open with his father on the bag as caddy and then followed with a win at the Genesis Scottish Open earlier this month. He also finished tied for eighth at the PGA Championship and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. MacIntyre is the fifth Scottish player to win on the PGA TOUR and the first since Martin Laird won the 2020 Shriner’s Children’s Open. He made his Ryder Cup debut on the victorious European Team in Rome, Italy last year.
