National Volunteer Week Spotlight: Kari Sells

Kari Sells is entering her 16th year as a volunteer! Originally from Laconia, N.H., Kari moved to Greensboro with her family in 1995. Kari is the territory manager at Volvo Construction in the United States and Canada.

Kari started volunteering with the Wyndham Championship in horticulture and now does operations. We asked her how she first became a volunteer, and she told us, “I was ‘volunteered’ by another volunteer to help with the flowers. I was happy to do it.”

We asked her why she comes back year after year, and she said, “The people, 100%. We work well together. The camaraderie makes us like family. Every year we get back together it’s like nothing has changed. We might have all gotten a little bit older, but we just mesh.”

Her favorite Wyndham moment? “My favorite memory as a volunteer is when Carl Petterson hit his ball off the first tee into my staging area, when I was still in horticulture. They had to rip it all up to find his ball. I was getting a million phone calls about my flowers because they had it on TV. Afterwards he ended up winning, which was great. It was my first year here.”

Thank you for your continued dedication to the tournament and fellow volunteers, Kari!
