Sandy and Lisa Duck are new to the volunteer scene. They made their debut as greeters last year and have now moved into the information booth between the ninth green and 18th suites. Their first two years were filled with rain, but it was also a great experience for the couple. “Volunteering gives us a sense of community,” Lisa said.
Lisa grew up in Greensboro, N.C., and Sandy made his way to the Triad more than 20 years ago from the Virginia Beach area. We asked them why they volunteer, and Sandy told us, “It gives us a chance to be involved in the community. You want to give your time back to the community that you live in. It’s a very important example we want to set for our son.”
“We came to the Wyndham Championship to be more involved with a tournament that happens in our own backyard to see what we could do to help out” Lisa added.
Despite two tournaments hindered by rain and soaked socks, Sandy and Lisa enjoy everything about the Wyndham Championship.
“The weather hasn’t bothered us; we were ready to go. We had a wonderful time making new friends, meeting people and being together to help serve the community. We just keep meeting wonderful people at every turn.”
Thank you so much for your help and time, Sandy and Lisa! We can’t wait to see you for years to come.
