GREENSBORO, N.C. – – While college basketball may be king in March, it’s never too early to make summer plans, and the Wyndham Championship starts in late July this year, the tournament announced today. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Birds are chirping; daffodils are blooming, and the grass is turning green. Warmer days make golfers think of knocking off the winter rust at the driving range. It’s also a time when summer vacation plans may be hatched, and with the Wyndham Championship a week earlier than usual this year, the tournament hopes central North Carolina residents will save the date for this year’s tournament and stay in town that week.
“With our PGA TOUR event starting in July, we want to be sure everyone knows our new dates so they can make sure they’re in town,” Executive Director Mark Brazil said. “Summer can be a really busy time of year so we’re hoping if people get the dates on their calendars now, they’ll plan those great summer vacations on other weeks. The Wyndham Championship is one of the best weeks of the summer.”
Five-time international winner and FedExCup No. 53 Aaron Rai defeated a powerful, star-studded field to claim his first PGA TOUR victory and move to 24th in the FedExCup standings following the 2024 Wyndham Championship. Forty of the top 70 in FedExCup points, 21 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings and 21 of the 60 golfers who played the Men’s Olympic Tournament in Paris the week prior played the 85th Wyndham Championship. Tropical Storm Debby blasted central North Carolina with six inches of rain delaying the tournament start until late Friday morning. It is now one of the most unique chapters in tournament history.
