Fans are encouraged to visit PGATOUR.com/Volunteers to vote
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Since its inception in 1938, the Wyndham Championship has done an outstanding job supporting the PGA TOUR’s legacy of more than $2 billion in charitable giving. This year, fans can support these charitable efforts by participating in the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge, sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron) – a new program that will be featured at the Wyndham Championship and other tournaments on the PGA TOUR in 2015. The 76th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 17-23, 2015 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
From now until noon on Saturday, Aug. 22, fans are encouraged to visit PGATOUR.com/Volunteers and vote for their favorite Wyndham Championship volunteer. At the end of the voting period, the volunteer with the most votes will have the chance to present a check from Astellas Pharma US, Inc. for $10,000 in his or her name to the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation’s Birdies Fore Backpacks initiative to fight childhood food insecurity. The check presentation will take place on Championship Sunday. Participating tournament volunteers also have an opportunity to win exciting prizes based on the number of votes they collect. In addition, the tournament has the potential to raise up to an additional $30,000 in bonus funds based on the number of votes earned collectively by volunteers.
“The PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge is a great way to help generate funds for the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation and Birdies Fore Backpacks while at the same time recognize the hundreds of tournament volunteers who donate their time, passion and commitment to the Wyndham Championship each year,” said Tournament Director Mark Brazil. “I hope all of our volunteers will participate and ask their friends, family members and co-workers to visit the website and vote.”
During tournament week in August, Wyndham Championship fans can visit the Putt for Charity Challenge tent on Expo row adjacent to the No. 1 fairway to help increase the donation for charity. The Putt for Charity Challenge, also sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron), will enable tournament attendees to test their putting skills, with three chances to putt and win prizes. Astellas Pharma US, Inc. will donate $1 to the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation for each registered Putt for Charity Challenge participant, up to $5,000.
The Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club features 156 of the world’s best professional golfers competing for a $972,000 first-place prize purse.
